Neural Representation of Kinematic Laws of Motion
     

A new MRI study from the The Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel
suggests that the brain has built-in support for
kinematic motion laws not just in the areas that produce motion but also
in the areas that perceive visual motion and observe action. This is
important because, "humans can easily perceive and infer emotions and
intentions from the movements and actions of other individuals". In
effect, the researchers found that the brain is "optimally tuned" to
perceive
kinematic and geometrical motions of the type produced by biological
