That was fascinating. As the reports were published in 2016 I went looking to see if there had been any further developments since then, and there certainly have been.

The latest version is able to assist someone with quadriplegia who can control the arms (he has two bionic arms) via sensors implanted directly in his brain, bypassing his damaged spinal cord.

This one along with other videos like it shows what can be done by those with 3D printers and the vision to create these prosthetic devices. The look on the child's face is so rewarding!! More need to help in this effort.
