UC Davis to commercialize modular, mobile robots

“iMobot” will allow robotics researchers to study fields like artificial intelligence, biomimetics, and robot collaboration without having to build the hardware.

Very cool.

I've seen something similar done years ago at another university where the modules had more of a lighter color and were more of a block shape. They also used something like small electromagnets to attach themselves to each other and could construct new arrangements as well.

Getting smarter with each generation (bot generations...not human). ;)

Good find, DH!!!

NOTE:
Just found this one which is quite similar to the one in Datahopa's posting. Wow!

ADDITIONAL NOTE:
Found the original Block bots I mentioned earlier...here:

Got to be one of the strangest forms of robotics I’ve ever seen.

The credit for finding this goes to Legion, she posted it on Datahopa but I thought it would fit in much better here on Dreams.

During that first video, I kept hearing the Star Wars Imperial Theme running through my head.

I tried, but couldn't find an animated ATAT emote. :(
