R2D2 Controlled by an iPhone using Mrmr
     

Glenn Pipe of the Dallas Personal
Robotics Group uses an iPhone to
control his full-size R2D2 replica. He developed the control interface
using Mrmr, an open source
toolkit for controlling live systems via mobile devices like the iPhones.
Glenn is working on using the iPhone's accelerometer as well as touch
screen controls to operate the Astromech's dome rotation, feet motors,
JEDI light controller, and sound system. The video above show his
progress with the dome. More video after the break shows servos being
controlled by the iPhone's accelerometers and some cool footage of the
partially complete R2 zooming around the house. For more details and to
