Random Robot Roundup

Rog-a-matic
noticed a cool
time-exposure of a Roomba in a closed room, showing the path it
takes over a 30 minute period. Joe Dellea let us know about Basil the service robot, developed
by Gamma Two, Inc., a Denver company. Hugo Ferreira of the ISEP Autonomous Systems Lab at
Porto Polytechnic send a link to their ROAZ Autonomous Surface
Vehicles, two marine robots designed for a variety of science and
research missions. A story we missed last month, Design
Engineering reports that signatures made by teleoperated robot arms
are legal in the US and Canada. The Swirling Brain has swirled up some
interesting stories too including video
of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology's agribot
exoskeleton, which will allow you pick radishes faster than any mere
human could. He also spotted a Slashdot
post about a robot designed to swap batteries on electric cars for
use in service stations of the future. I wonder if it provides service
with a smile? Know any other robot news, gossip, or amazing facts we
should report? Send 'em our way
please.

Tyler,
The article is kind of cramped, kind of looks like somebody didn't do their work
and needed to ketchup!
I rather liked an idea that was in there, because with I.T. security is always trying to keep up
with risk I separated out a link to the arm, it records pressure and cadence
which is better than a physical signature. Now it is data and that needs to be
secured, I call this phenomenon self perpetuating job security :) thanks

P.S. The 'Arm' is just an extension, it really is the hand that wrote the original and the receptive screen that does it.

On this day in 1607, settlers founded Jamestown, Virginia, the first permanent English settlement in America.
