Robots: Collective Coverage and Self Assembly

In the latest episode of the Robots podcast Nikolaus Correll, post
doc at the MIT CSAIL's Distributed Robotics
Lab, shares his insights on multi-robot systems. He describes his
previous work on inspecting a model jet engine for damage using
sugar-cube sized robots, and discusses typical trade-offs between
reactive robot control and planning, as well as the impact of robot
collaboration on performance. His latest work includes a robotic
garden and a fascinating project to herd cows using virtual
fences. In the second part of this episode we talk to Roderich Gross,
currently a postdoc at the EPFL. He
introduces the swarm-bots and
his work on robot cooperation, self-assembly and division of labour. Tune
in!
