Here's a new video from Boston Dynamics sent to me by a friend. Check out the way it regains it's balance when kicked.

i was initially shocked when i saw big dog,  but then i found it a little lame and left me unimpressed, but this one is quite good!  im coming back to it,  its not quite total liquid athleticy with ultrasonic coupling but that jogging motion was quite good.

That big one is not as good as the little one.

If by good you mean agile, then yes, I agree but the BIG DOG was designed to carry a much larger and presumably heavier payload thus it's increased size and much louder internal combustion engine. Most large beings are not as adept or quick as their smaller counterparts (present company included;)).

Two concerns of mine that I haven't heard discussed or answered as yet (at least that I've heard).
What is the run cycle of the smaller "dog" before it needs to be refilled / recharged?

How is the dog able to get up IF it were to fall on it's side? Or can it?

If anyone has or seen videos of these questions please post it. Thanks!!

Just wait till they get that cheetah perfected. There will be no running from it!

Wait a minute... Spot is Data's CAT, not dog! They should have gone with Porthose - Captain Archer's dog! Oh well...

Anyway they have perfected the motion a lot! Haven't found any details on energy efficiency yet. Also waiting to see that robotic cheetah run as fast as the tethered version.

But despite the amazing tech and improvements, software - A.I. research is not going as fast. We are yet to see these machines adapt to the environment in a way that they learn what's dangerous and what's not (streets, predators, anti-robot gangs) or learn  to respond to classical dog training in some way.
Software and Hardware developer, and everything in between.

I am impressed that the deafening engine noise from before is now softer than its footsteps.
CO2 retains heat. More CO2 in the air = hotter climate.

This is the "no strings attached" Wildcat...;)

Although it's current speed is around 16 mph or so, it's only a matter of time before they get all the kinks worked out.

You're simply not going to outrun this one on foot either....
