Seegrid Launches the GT3 Idustrial Mobile Robot
Two years have past since we last reported on Seegrid, the company founded to
commercialize Hans Moraveck's
volumetric sensing technology for mobile robot vision and
navigation. So what have they been up to since then? Scott Friedman
emailed robots.net to let us know they're introducing an industrial
mobile robot (IMR) called GT3. The GT3 can navigate
complex industrial environment without magnetic tape, guide wires, lasers,
or other methods used by old-timey robots. Seegrid's robot uses
autonomous sense, move, analyze, interact and repeat behaviors. They
claim the GT3 can be put to work in real
industrial environments literally minutes after unloading it from the
truck. Seegrid is also adding two new members to their board of
directors; legal expert Dan Shapira and someone who should should be a
familiar face around here, none other than eternal AI optimist Ray
Kurzweil. For more on the GT3 and new board members, see the latest Seegrid news release.
Video of Seegrid robot prototypes in action can be found on Seegrid's YouTube page.
