link to image of quadrotor as it catches a ball A team from the UC Berkeley Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences (EECS) has released a video showing a quadrotor catching balls.  The video also details some of the incremental improvements made in the hardware of the quadrotor and the software controlling it.  (via Automaton)

Yes this is my favourite robot at the moment, looking forward to seeing what else it could do - one of the comments mentioned table tennis, that would be interesting.  Still trying to think of a practical use, but still impressed.

Maybe they can use them as ping-pong-ball catchers, during ping-pong games  ;D
