Just a quick question for everyone...

Does anyone know what has happened to Rhetorical?

I have tried all the links I know of including the home page and non seem to work :nowork:

Are they still around ?

Read my previous posting about TTS voice info...

Rhetorical has been acquired by ScanSoft.

I loved and hated their Valley Girl voice but
I think it was way too pricey!! The good ones
always are! :tantrum:

Marius,

I exchanged emails with a rep at Rhetorical about the time when they were first acquired
by ScanSoft and he quoted me $2500.00 USD to license the personal use of the Valley
Girl voice!!
Voice? Heck, for that kind of money I could but a whole computer system (and a pretty
good one at that!)

Hi Art,

yeah I remember your post there, I was loking at it only a few days ago...as I remember..."for that money you wanted it come with the woman attached"  hehe.

Silly money mate...they not using it anyway so whats the problem.

On that note...the links to valley girls voice (in your post on Zaba) no longer seem to work either ?

I was only after it so a friend could hear her lol

Hmm...if a TTS voice speaks, and you're not there...does it make a sound?

Heh..heh...

Do you like vegetables?

I'll see what I can turn up!
Nevermind.... :huh1:

OK...

News Flash....

Rhetorical was bought out by ScanSoft.
Now, ScanSoft has changed their name
and taken on a much bigger role in providing
voice and OCR (Optical Character Recognition)
development along with several partnering
companies.

One can only imagine what their TTS voices
will cost now!! :bs:

they've got speechify as well...

speechify had the best voices imho.

why these pugs are buying up all the voices and sitting on them

is beyond me. Hopefully they will reinstate the speechify demo someday

so you guys can see what i'm talking about. They have samples on there

now, but who cares?
