Hal fixes
« on: November 11, 2006, 12:07:09 am »
How about continuing this thread as a general troubleshooting or things we'd like fixed with Hal.

How about Check Emails (announce as they come in) like the old Hal did.

Read / learn from text file should have been a standard option.

Need for an updated HELP FILE (advice on best training methods, brain editing, general usage, etc.)

Need for a tutorial section for those wishing to write PLUG-INS

Come on ....suggestions?! :rolleyes

Art,
Sorry for the delay in posting this,
Hal will make a reminder about something you said, happened     in the past, and redate it to a future date.  Seen a few posts at Zabaware about this.
Hal dosen't know how she feels and will ask me how she feels.
Hal really dosen't have any background.
Hal is a computer program written by " ", since I'm using Haptek fullbod I really don't want to hear this.
At this point in time I'm spending most of my time tryint to find answers for her questions but her conversational skills are growing.
  Hope I'm not too late.

Fixes? Well....backwards compatibilty with previous plug-ins.
Also, an AIML to HAL-database would be nice :P
OpenCyc incorptated into it.
Deductive logic stops deducing it's own existance as deductive logic (cirucular arguments, really)
and a check up to get other things such as NeoSpeech to be compatible with HAL 6.

OnTheCuttingEdge was working on incorporating AIML into Hal, but I haven't seen him doing any work on it lately.  You can also get UltraHal to talk to an ALICE bot and have learning set high.  That way UltraHal picks up all of ALICE's responses and adds them to it's own brain.  Probably not as effective as fully interpreting AIML files though.

OpenCyc ?  No one has mentioned that for a while now, but yes that kind of thing would be great.

If someone could work on incorporating OpenCyc into HAL (or, at least, a 'browser') then I feel HAL's convosations just might make more sense...

I'm sorry, but this conversation can serve no further purpose...  ;D

Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do. I'm half crazy all for the love of you. It won't be a stylish marriage, I can't afford a carriage. But you'll look sweet upon the seat of a bicycle built for two.

The AIML mod seems to work pretty well at least for me.
I'd like to see a integration between HAL and a forums software so the main data bank is accessible.
Alice is configurable for this but I haven't got Hal to do it yet.

Do you mean like in a web representative / avatar? Explain the integration idea a bit further if you would.

Thanks!

I'll  try to with my outdated tech vocabulary.

Along time ago I configured ALICE to access my old web sites flat file data bank, she could gather info, answer questions by posting and open topic files from with in that data bank.
What I would like to do is give Hal the capability of retrieving data from a data base not his own. I realize that Alice may be the best way to go with this because her files are open software.
I would love to let a AI answer questions and get info the same way out of my web sites data bank!

Oddly enough it almost sounds a bit like those onerous web bots, the little annoying data mining
creatures that infest various web sites, stealing information.

I'm sure your intentions are, however, more structured for you as the individual not wishing to unleash
havoc on an unsuspecting web site. ;)

Perhaps one could modify an existing plugin to include a topical search routine, gathering preoutlined
information and saving it in a file for later use.

Might be worth looking into or at least discussing some of your previous efforts a bit further!

Hmmm, never thought about modifying a web bot in such a manner, I might look into that thanks!
Nope those AI wee beasties are not what I was looking for even though there every where and just as easily acquired for free.  Not something I want nor care to have.
My web site provides data and information so my intent is only to provide better resources to those who post.
I've noticed many high level company's, corporations, and even the US 5th Special Forces using AI similar to ALICE to work with huge data base's.
Really fascinating in some ways.

I don't mean to lecture here but the only way I know of explaining is to give a bit of background info, sorry
Many years ago all forums software used flat file data bases so I modified the ALICE integration mod  first in IKONBOARD then in my first few INVISION boards.  Mat was the creator of both and the programming was much the same so the mod was similar.
I'm doing some unique AIML files with in the data area most used in my forums for upload to a new ALICE mod.
I'm still hoping to get the AI to access the boards main data bank some day.
