Ultra Hal and Vision
« on: January 06, 2009, 12:29:54 pm »
Hi Guys, I want to tap into the good will here and try to assemble some information for a member that was asking me about getting Hal to work with vision.  I know a few of you have toyed with vision so have you got any pointers as to where someone may start on this ?  That's assuming it is actually possible.  Many thanks :)

Fredy a few months ago, I released an ActiveX control for the OpenCV platform (face detection only). Is it perhaps what you are looking for?

Yeah I remembered that, but I was hoping someone did something specifically for use in UltraHal.  I'm not sure if Hal can even be made to do that at the moment, it would seem to me to include more thatn just editing the brain code, I'm thinking you would need deeper access to Hal's programming.

Freddy,

I believe you are correct in that assumption. Robert M. is also reportedly working on
having vision as an inclusion in the next release of UltraHal. To what degree is anyone's
guess but it should be fun to play with.

Even though there were some vision demos and examples from around the net,
I think they would have to be written within the confines of the core and not added as a plug-in.
