Ultra Hal in Second Life
« on: October 22, 2009, 09:00:23 pm »
Yes finally Hal can exist in an immersive environment !  I was waiting a long time to see something like this with Hal.  I was quite impressed with the way Hal handled conversation, a lot better than I remember.

That was pretty cool even though I've heard those answers many times before in conversation with Hal.

I think those kinds of environments will be seen more and more in the near future.
In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!

Ai tries to fool us into thinking we a talking to a human, we all know this but by putting Hal into SL it takes the illusion to another level, he has a body, he can walk around, you can actually bump into him, he is real in the virtual sense.

Even though most of Hals chat lines had been heard before there is something to be said about having a body and the freedom to move around and explore.

It was like meeting an old friend in there.

Unfortunately I have spent the last two days in SL, oh no its got me hooked again, and finally they seem to have stopped the viewer crashes, one of the reasons I gave SL up a year ago. The lag is still there though   :-\
