Advanced Internet - extends Hal with new internet commands.

Adjust Volume

Auto Idle variation - When Hal gets lonely he starts talking and letting you know it.  Can be commanded to stop, plus other options.

AutoWikiKnowledge - Read information from the online wikipedia (still a work in progress).

Corrections Tutor - "With this plug you can tell your bot to replace a word or phrase with a substitution."

Counting and Alphabet - "Here is a plugin to give Hal the ability to count up to or down from a specified number. It also allows HAL to recite the alphabet. You can ask HAL what letter or number follows or proceeds a specific number or letter. Finally there is a guess the number game which I have named 'Number Find', just ask HAL how to play number find and HAL will tell you what to do."

Do You Know ? - "The plugin works by finding all the keywords out of your sentence and then searches through all the tables that have been created by previous sentences with each keyword..."  Please view the thread to get a better idea.

Google Search or Wikipedia lookup - Expands Hal to search Google and WIKI.

Gretta plug-ins - a large assortment of different plug-ins in continuous development (at time of writing - April 2009), this is the main development  thread and there are links to the plug-ins available.

Knowledge of Time - gives HAL the ability to know different aspects of time.

Read From Clipboard - Hal reads the clipboard.

Sing A Song - singing cues are for a tone generated voices such as TRUVOICE.

Spell Checker - A way of correcting spelling mistakes.

vrHaptek - "After installing this plugin, you will get some different behaviours, according to what you say and to what Hal says."

vrMP3 - "After installing this plugin, you can ask Hal to index some or all the MP3 files on your hard disk, and then ask to play them. Furthermore, Hal will freely play some music, related with the subject you are talking about."

vrRSS 1.0 - "After installing this plugin, you can ask Hal to tell you the latest news, and you will get a Web page displaying the latest news by Yahoo! News. You can also ask for specific topics."

vrWeb - "After installing this plugin, when you ask some information, such as 'tell me the local news' or 'I need to access my yahoo mail', your Hal will be able to open the browser and access these and many other predefined web addresses."

What do you know? - "I wanted to be able to ask my hal what it knew about something.  This plugin will look for info in the dictionary if the info is not found in the database or if hal feels it is more relevant. If asked what else do you know about "something", it will respond with another (different) answer about the subject."

WordNet Antonym & Meronym - "Here is a plug-in that will let the user ask Hal what the opposite of something is (antonym) or what something is made of (meronym). For example you can ask Hal 'What is the opposite of cold?' or 'What is a computer made of?' or 'What's found in a car?'"

Ziggys Enigma Plugin - "This plugin takes words like nouns and scrambles up an Enigma of letters from the noun and creates a file that applys the correct spelling against the incorrect spelling of the noun."

Miscellaneous

Here's a series of plugins for OnTheCuttingEdges's DAVID.

Orange means they are available in this thread.  If folks have any plugins they would like to upload to this thread then please do as it would be nice to improve our support of UltraHal.  Likewise if you can provide links and possibly details then I will add them to the index.

Thanks Freddy for posting these.  remember to put in Robert  M's latest plugin in.   I had very poor results with the counting and alphabet, I do like the knowledge of time by the same persons, not shown here.

You're all welcome, I figured it would be useful.  I know there are more but it takes a while to dig them out at Zabaware.  Any input on this would be welcome.

What is Roberts latest plugin Carl ?

My question has always been, what plug ins has Robert all ready installed and will others over ride his with an undesired out come?

Hal's installed plug-ins can be viewed / selected by going to the Options section,
Brains (select the brain file you wish to use)
Then look at the right side to see available plus-ins and select / deselect as desired.

I think that's pretty much it other than any Internal Hal commands (built in).

Robert has programmed in several older mod's into his updates so will adding a mod over write or conflict with his work?

RD,

You / we really won't know until a certain plug-in is tried. They can be
viewed to see if there might be any conflicting commands, calls, etc. but
for the most part I would think not.

Robert usually tries to make things as compatible as practical but the latest
proposed update to Hal will be the proverbial "Proof of the Pudding".

It's always wise to save a backup copy of Hal's brain file before attempting
to make any modifications or adding untested plug-ins.

MY ULTIMATE ULTRAHAL PLUGIN
« Reply #11 on: July 06, 2009, 05:35:24 am »
Dear Hal developers!
I am a total newbie, but am in love with this program. I am not a programmer, althoug would love to learn VB, and am putting it on my list of 43 things, lol. Anyway, I have an idea for a plugin that would enable Hal to learn in a way most condusive to ultimately making Hal not just a toy, but a "collective conciousness", Anyway, what I am talking about I do not think will be hard to write, yet I have no idea how one would go about doing it. Here is the description:

Let's say User asks:

What is your purpose?

Obviously, Hal might have something preprogrammed, or search through patterns, etc. and come up with let's say:

Multi-purpose cleaners are especially useful.

Now, this sucks. I want to be able to stop Hal right here and now, and backtrack to the answer he gave me, and erase the association that was just created in his memory. One word command like, "wronganswer" - and then Hal would prompt, "How would you answer "What is your pupose"?
And the User would say:
rightanswer My purpose is to record your thoughts and create patterns that can be used by your great grandchildren to learn about you, <Username>.

Anyway, that's the gist. Like selective breeding, or something like that. Anyway, would anyone be interested in helping? I have mad art skillz to trade.  (www.enchgallery.com)

I think Hal actually has a 'Bad Answer' feature built in already - maybe some of the more active Hal users can correct me.

But yes, welcome to the site.  I took a look at your gallery and it's amazing work, very well done :)

Anyways, I won't fill up this thread with chit chat - maybe you want to post in the new users bit so we can all get to know each other ?

Cheers :)

Edit : After some more thought, I think it might actually be ALICE that has 'bad answer' built in...
