I took the plunge and bought an Oculus Quest 2. What intrigued me was the potential, the 3D rendered scenes, be it a game or an animation, where fine since they maintained the resolution across all views, but the video was something less than desired. The reason is that most who create VR video content use cameras that squeeze the 180 or 360 degrees images onto an HD or 4K CCD device! That just ruins the effect and you get this fuzzy image. A better solution would be to use 4 or more cameras with 4K each. Here's a solution that does just that: HD VR

Did some shopping here's a Raspberry Pi Camera for $50, 4 cameras would total $200 and six would total $300, along with 4 Raspberry P1 Zeros can be purchased for under $10. So looking at the GoPro Omni Kit running $3500 and used I found at $650. Going with a Raspberry Pi solution allows for software to control all cameras and possibly even do the stitching between camera images. Hmm, this might be a good Kickstarter product...😎
