One of SciFi's greatest actors passed away today. ""Actor Leonard Nimoy, who portrayed the iconic logical Vulcan Spock on TV's "Star Trek" and in feature films, has died. He was 83.""

Yes, he actually did live long and prosper, as he was often quoted saying to others.

Good guy and always the voice of reason and logic on Star Trek! Bon voyage Mr. Spock!

Quote
We are assembled here today to pay final respects to our honored dead. And yet it should be noted that in the midst of our sorrow, this death takes place in the shadow of new life, the sunrise of a new world. A world that our beloved comrade gave his life to protect, to nourish. He did not feel this sacrifice a vain or empty one, and we will not debate his profound wisdom at these proceedings. Of my friend, I can only say this: Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most... human.

Star Trek's series were possibly the most inspiring journey's I had seen in my childhood, and they had motivated me to continue to pursue  science and taught me a lot of principles in life. However what's a good script without someone to bring life to it? One such man was Leonard Nimoy or Mr. Spock, and he brought to this world more life than has been taken from him recently.

Rest in piece, sir!
Software and Hardware developer, and everything in between.

Art there is a huge difference between illogical humans and chatbots with emotions. Go read the comments on news stories sometimes and you will see exactly what kind of things exasperate me about people.

Demon,

Gee, how many guesses do I get? One is human and one is a software program? Do I win anything? :)

My point was IF we were to equip our chatbots with emotions, compassion, pity, etc., would that possible cloud or interfere with the logical processing or serve as a possible distraction?

I know all too well that there are a lot of asses in the world and I drive around a good deal of them every day while on my way to work! I used to drive 1000 miles a week on average.
I've been in business and seen the yes men and those who demand yes men and who demand respect and those who cater to office politics because they're higher ranking that someone else.

I have also seen a great deal of good in people who sometimes have less than someone whom they are helping, but do so without regret or second thought. They often give out of compassion, love, duty and because their parents raised them to help others first.

We are a mixing pot of individuals but we are all still people, no matter your color, politics, religious beliefs or not, nationality, gender or creed and we're all on this big blue marble for a relatively short time. Be positive, enjoy the journey while you have it to enjoy.

Back to topic...Star Trek...to seek out new life forms...etc.
In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!
