Image and movie files and buttons
« on: November 28, 2006, 09:50:10 am »
Is it possible to add image or movie files to display at a specific area of a UltraHal skin? Can they be called from the skin script or a plugin or both? Can you also add more buttons to a skin either from the skin script or a plugin or both? I would be grateful if anyone could help me with this.

The UltraHal skin does not allow the video footage but you can change the program skin - try the www.zabaware.com site for info on how to make and assemble skins, as there is a lot of info there.  Hope that gets you started - when you are there do a search for 'skins'.

Thanks for your advice which I followed to the letter, just to find the link was broken and I couldn't access the file. Is there anywhere else where I could receive a copy of this file?

I went to the UltraHal site and put into the search 'skins', as you advised, and it took me to a file to download called the 'Ultra Hal Assistant Interface Design Manual'. I tried to download it but came up with a broken link. Was this what I was suppose to be looking for?

Really, please provide a link to this wonderous item.

A search for 'skins', should bring you up a list of posted subjects which mention 'skins', go back and try again - when I do it, it has a whole list.

Thanks, I was at a loss when you mentioned a file...I had forgotten about the one in downloads, thanks for reminding me.  Glad you found it, but it didn't work for me either, so I reported the bad link.  Hopefully they will get it fixed.  I'm sorry but I don't have the file myself to send to you.

I can only suggest further, that you post a message in the zabaware forum asking for it and report the bad link there too (in the actual forum), I know Rob (the programer) is really busy usually so it might prompt some action.

I was afraid things like that would start happening at zabaware due to
Robert being so busy designing the new version of Hal. That's why I set
up the Bot Resource Archive section for Ultra Hal & ALICE on my site.   :smiley

Here is a link to the Archive. You will find the Interface Design Manual
and the MakeTransparencyTool there which is used in creating skins
for Hal.

If you have a problem downloading anything from the archive please
let me know by emailing me at
