Joseph Weizenbaum; Creator of ELIZA and the creator of the field we now call natural language processing, passed away March 5th 2008.

Apart from his work on ELIZA, he was also known for believing that computers should never be put in a position to make important descisions, as they had no wisdom, nor compassion. He saw this as computers lacking a family upbringing.

He will be missed.
