Will a robot take your job?

A friend of mine posted this on Facebook, it makes for interesting reading.

Type your job title into the search box below to find out the likelihood that it could be automated within the next two decades.
About 35% of current jobs in the UK are at high risk of computerisation over the following 20 years, according to a study by researchers at Oxford University and Deloitte.

So we should work less for the same wage (minus machine maintenance costs), right?

I don't know about that - I suppose more jobs would be made to maintain the machines. Some people like their jobs so I don't think it's clear cut.

This really is out of our control, the ball is rolling and can't be stopped, let's roll with it and see where it takes us.

If we don't like something we can and should complain very loudly.

And then be tasered and hauled off to prison!

Please! Take my job!!

Actually it would be a long time before a robot could actually do my job.

By the time the developers and programmers remotely get close to thinking about it, I'll have been long since retired!!
Yeaahhh!! O0

Do you know what the leters in "JOB" stand for?

Letters J, O, B stand for: Jackass Of Boss.

I wonder how the bosses are going to react when
their jackasses are taken away from them?

Do you think bosses would rather be surrounded
by robotic jackasses?

Maybe someday I could get a job as just
being human, in a fully robotic company.

Had the internet been around at the time of the industrial revolution, I imagine similar threads would be started by people fearing the automatic loom. Time constantly moves on. People should evolve as well.

In the future no one will have to work. Humans will just count the money :)

If you have seen the Matrix trilogy, then think about all the symbolism in those movies. Especially the part that indicated that we humans are merely "Living Batteries" to supply power to the "Machine".

Stop and watch the bigger picture of each person on their way to work, driving or walking toward their task, and we all have or have had one. Keeping this gargantuan Machine running is a task that never stops (in the grand scheme of things) and is never and will never be finished. We are those "Batteries!"

Future robots will simply view humans as "inefficient carbon based units." We require so much to produce so little.

DemonRaven, I sincerely hope that when the time comes, you'll be taken care of by another human being, with love.

One day in the maybe not-so-distant future, when robots have taken over the world, will they STILL need humans in any capacity?
If you examine the current processes that are undertaken each day, see how many would have been replaced and just How they might have been replaced or modified to allow for robots to take over those tasks. Interesting to imagine a planet, not devoid of any human life and only robots, androids, computer guided cars, trains, etc.

Imagine how the robots and androids might be able to provide power for themselves...wind, solar, wave energy, hydro-electric and so on.

With this in mind, just what would they do? What would their purpose be? What goal driven motivation would be at the heart of their operation?

Not too much unlike humans in some respects.

Some feed for the mind.
