Hi there!
« on: May 28, 2011, 11:09:56 pm »
I'm an AI hobbyist. I've run the gamut of experiments in everything from Conceptnet to OpenCyc, verbots, AIML, and a bunch of personal pattern matching systems. Most recently I've explored a form of neural networks known as LSTM and I've been working on a method of dynamic growth, and determining equivalency of contextual systems. Some of my projects have included porting LinkGrammar to AutoIt and Lua, experiments in FANN, 3D engines, and other AI related packages. I've been following OpenCog avidly, and I'm convinced they're on the most interesting path of any AI research team in the world right now.

On the business end of things, I'm handy with SQL, Lua, PHP, AutoIt, c, c++, and enough Java to work my way through pretty much anything out there - although my preference is functional, imperative style programming. For some reason, Lua, Basic, and AutoIt speak to me.

I don't have a bot, currently, because I've come to despise the AIML style of AI. I'd rather have dumb but genuine than a computational parlor trick - so I've been working on that. At any rate, I look forward to meeting many interesting people here on these forums. :)

After reading your post I would have to say that you sound like an intelligent chap, you might come in handy around these parts.

I also have to agree with your thoughts on Ai, I too would much rather have a dumb but genuine Ai rather than a computational parlour trick. We live in hope.

Welcome to Ai Dreams JRowe  :)

I've been getting my blog stuff sorted out, in preparation for transfer to a new site, but if you'd like to read, I have a bunch of posts at www.nlpbots.com .

Soon as I have that organized, I'll post code for things like neural networks, grammar parsing, and other stuff.

I told myself I'd set some time this weekend to get that sorted out. Thanks for the welcome!
:)

Welcome to the forum, you sound like you will fit in perfectly. :)

We enjoy concept discussion, the philosophical side and testing new programs to name a few things.   There's a lot of nice members here so I hope you will enjoy the things we discuss.

When you get time I could add your site to the member's project page if you like too.

Member's Projects Page

I've been busy on site redesigns lately but I'm hoping to add a few more people to that page asap and make it more obvious to find.

Again, welcome :)
