Sure, I remember Lexx (and Xenia).

I also have a fond place in my heart for Selene (Kate Beckinsale) in Underworld.
Maybe it was her pouty upper lip due to her genetic overbite. Vampires have that
problem a lot, I hear. ;D
Selene could bite me anytime! Sorry, didn't mean to get off on a tangent.

But wait!!....There's more!!

How about we create a listing of various Femme Fatals from the movies and
vote to compile a Top Ten list? Sounds like a cool diversion (not withstanding winter).

The ideas just keep rolling out.... :D

That's because I'm a Brit by lineage:

Records show that  my 8th Great Grandfather died of the plague and was
buried at the church (St. Margaret's) on September 20, 1641.

St Margaret's Churchyard lies to the west of the church, between Parliament Square
and the path running parallel to the Abbey. All visible traces of the many hundreds
of graves which the churchyard contains were lost when it was grassed over in 1881.

A couple of his kids made their way across the big pond, settled near Jamestown, VA.
and later migrated up to Maryland. After many generations, here I am!!

Genealogy is one of my lifelong pursuits.

OK...yes, Kate is a Brit...but What a Brit!!

I think the list of our top ten is a cool idea - Kate would have to be in there for me...our we going to keep this to Sci-Fi ?

Art, that's quite a long way back you have traced - well done.  Genealogy is one of my passtimes too, a few weeks ago I managed to get back to the 1700's and went to visit some of the old graves here in Norfolk.  Mav, if you ever need any help doing yours then let me know - I know of a lot of free resources for tracing trees and some...I also have the 1851 census on CD...

Yes, I think we should limit the gals to Sci-Fi.
We could simply list the most appealing ones that we each prefer
then sort them into a top ten category. I'll bet the similarities
will be surprising, especially since we are all gentlemen of refined
tastes (just nod your heads...). ;D

There is a very nice FREE Family Tree program called My Heritage
that allows one to insert tons of photos and even has facial recognition
built into it. This means that if say you have a photo of Aunt Jean when
she was 35 and another one of her at 49 or 55, the program looks at
the picture and "knows" that it is Aunt Jean. Pretty cool.

No bugs, spyware...totally free and pretty nice.

My contacts were state land records, Social Security indexes. church records,
death records / obits, family bibles, elder family members, graveyard tombstones,
books at the library and tons of online sources. Tombstones - digital camera for
source archives!

Keep in mind that in centuries past spelling was not as important as it is today and
as such expect or at least look for several variations of a given name when searching.

I even have an authentic copy of Baptismal certificates from over 300 years ago. When
dealing with churches, even a small donation can open a lot of doors to the past for you.

If I can help you Mav, don't hesitate to ask.

Cheers!

Yes I found that a lot too, especially with common names like Elisa, Elizabeth, Elisabeth...Also you have to be careful with things like ages, especially on census returns, our ancestors often misrepresented their exact ages.

Anyways, on with the top ten...I'll think of some for tomorrow.

Well I deemed this task as being of a high priority and couldn't wait until tomorrow.  It's actually quite hard to think of ten ladies in the right genre - I kept getting drawn mistakenly into fantasy like the 'X-Men' which isn't actually Sci-Fi.  I think 'Resident Evil' can just sneak in on the Sci-Fi front though.  Well here goes - these are in my approximate order of appreciation and thankfulness to God...

Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil - Alice or Leela in Fifth Element)
Jeri Ryan (StarTrek Voyager - Seven of Nine)
Claudia Black (Farscape - Aeryn Sun)
Carrie Anne Moss (Matrix - Trinity)
Jane Fonda (Barbarella - Barbarella)
Amanda Tapping (StarGate - Carter)
Daryl Hannah (Bladerunner - Pris)
Gigi Edgley (Farscape - Chiana)
Sigourney Weaver (Alien etc - Ripley)
Ally Sheedy (Short Circuit - Stephanie)

That's also coincidentally the rough order in which I would anticipate them kicking my butt.  Maybe Ripley would sneak up the ranks in that case though.
